Contestualizzando le fonti a nostra disposizione, si scoprirà una storia completamente differente da come ci è stata insegnata, partendo dai suoi protagonisti: Giovanni il Battista e Gesù. Essi giocarono un ruolo di primo piano nel contesto politico-sociale del loro tempo, rimanendo saldi al giudaismo che li aveva formati, e senza avere alcuna pretesa di universalità, trascendenza o misticismo.
