Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book comprehensively explores the mechanisms of bird flight, delving into the physics and aerodynamics that enable these remarkable creatures to soar through the skies. It provides a thorough understanding of the fundamental principles of sustentation, the nature of the driving powe…r that renders sustentation possible, equilibrium, and steering. The author meticulously examines the unique qualities of bird wings, contrasting them with the designs of artificial counterparts and highlighting the importance of elasticity and lightness in achieving efficient flight. In-depth analysis of bird flight offers valuable insights into the challenges and limitations faced by aviators, demonstrating that bird flight holds the key to unlocking the full potential of human-powered flight. Through this book, readers gain a profound appreciation for the intricate mechanics and evolutionary marvels that make bird flight a captivating subject of scientific inquiry. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.

Soft cover. Zustand: Good. 88pp, loosely inserted sheet of light card with 12 figures, thick paper covers. The contents are in very good condition with two minor annotations noted and a touch of wear. There are two small pieces of tape stuck to the top & bottom of the sheet of figures. The covers are browned at the edges and spi…ne. The corners are worn and there are some numbers written on the front cover in ink. This is an adaptation from an unpublished larger work giving a complete theory of animal flight written between 1896 and 1906, which it seems that Ulevold attempted to get published without success. However, the birth of powered flight in the early 1900s gave Ulevold the opportunity to adapt his earlier work into something relevant to the construction of aeroplanes and he self published this work in 1913. A rare booklet, no other examples are recorded on COPAC or WorldCat. UK postage for this item will be lower than the ABE default rate.
