Cover Art; This book is in Near Fine condition and has a Near Fine dust jacket. The book and its contents are in clean, bright condition. The text pages are clean and bright. The dust jacket is crisp and clean. "Golding's 1967 novel, The Pyramid, consists of three linked stories with a shared setting in a small English town based partly on Marlborough where Golding grew up. The Scorpion God (1971) contains three novellas, the first set in an ancient Egyptian court ("The Scorpion God") ; the second describing a prehistoric African hunter-gatherer group ("Clonk, Clonk") ; and the third in the court of a Roman emperor ("Envoy Extraordinary"). The last of these, originally published in 1956, was reworked by Golding into a play, The Brass Butterfly, in 1958. From 1971 to 1979, Golding published no novels. After this period he published Darkness Visible (1979) : a story involving terrorism, paedophilia, and a mysterious figure who survives a fire in the Blitz, and appears to have supernatural powers. In 1980, Golding published Rites of Passage, the first of his novels about a voyage to Australia in the early nineteenth century. The novel won the Booker Prize in 1980 and Golding followed this success with Close Quarters (1987) and Fire Down Below (1989) to complete his 'sea trilogy', later published as one volume entitled To the Ends of the Earth. In 1984, he published The Paper Men: an account of the struggles between a novelist and his would-be biographer." (from Wikipedia).

Known for making vivid, memorable, and often controversial work, Victore has sought comrades, not clients--brave, smart collaborators who have encouraged him to reinterpret old design solutions and to pressure viewers to think about issues in a new way. Leading readers through this collection of "greatest hits," Victore tells the stories behind his inspirations, his process, and the lessons learned. The result is an inspiring, funny, and honest book, which showcases a body of work that has been plastered on the streets of New York, hung at MoMA, and featured in magazines all over the world. Praise for "Victore or, Who Died and Made You Boss?: " "Victore's book makes the reader want to rise up and, in Victore's words, 'examine the cliche, then dig deeper into the idea, and do that again and again, turning and twisting it deeper each time.'" --Stacey Kahn, Print magazine, October 2010 ""Victore or, Who Died and Made You Boss?" is both a monograph and a manifesto, visually tacking ideas on racism, war or capital punishment while taunting complacency and challenging the boundaries of taste." --Ruth Hagopian, Communication Arts, December 2010 "With his unpatriotic attitude and interest in 'unholy sex, ' James Victore is a designer with opinions, as exhibited in a new book of his work." --David Crowley, Creative Review, October 2010 "For anyone interested in the currency of ideas, this volume will inspire, encourage, and, quite possibly, shock. It's a ride well worth taking." --Jim Carr, The Denver Post, September 19, 2010. Might Require Extra Shipping And Handling To Your Destination, Due To Large Size And Weight.
