The author of these 271 pages (includes INDEX) has climbed Mount Everest and Mount McKinley, he once ran a mountain equipment shop in Seattle, he has promoted climbing for the blind and the 1990 Peace Climb, and he chummed around with the Kennedys - yes those Kennedys. His biography is aided by both colour and b/w photographs - many accredited to his partner Dianne Roberts. Learn more about : Nisqually Glacier, Quomolangma, brother Louie, Chris Bonnington, Camp Hale, Ang Pema, Eddie Bauer, Pelion Team, and La Verne Woods. Author has signed the title page. Cond : Paper wrapper is grey - as in rockwall with ice. Lettering is white. Civer inset photograph shows author on Everest summit - 1963. Volume is tight bright, square, and clean. No names, marks, creases, nor tears. Light wear at some corners. Almost giftable !! Quote (p.160): " In January 1975 we held a shakedown climb on Mount Rainier. The book has a slightly shifted spine, a gentle bump at the top edge of the rear cover, very mionr scuffing to the bottom edge of the spine, loose hinges, and separation of the spine plate from the webbing of the binding, otherwise the book is in very good condition with crisp, unmarked pages, a tight binding, and a strong, clean cover. The dustjacket has rubbing and surface scratching to both covers that has cause some color loss, shelfwear to the edges and corners of the covers including creasing and small tears, a small scuff to the back cover that has torn the top layer of paper in a section approx 1/2 by 1/4 inch, a tear approx 1/2 inch long at the top edge of the back cover, and an overall gentle aging to the jacket, otherwise the dustjacket is in fair condition, intact and attractive, and is now in an archival protective mylar.
