Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good. First Edition. Publisher's green cloth with the errata slip on blank page, and map endpapers drawn by Margaret Blanton. Inscribed on behalf of both authors - probably by Margaret Cate - Mar. 10, 1955. The photographs were made by Prof. Dr. Wightman. The photographer and the amateur historian started to preserve these historical landmarks and people, as they were disappearing, as early as 1936. Her work spanned "a study of Georgia s colonial records in London to the study of oral traditions and native crafts of the region s African-Americans. Her interviews with and photographs of ex-slaves and their crafts remain an invaluable historical resource." - GeorgiaInfo. She also founded the Fort Frederica Association. A bright, clean, tight and unmarked copy.

Hardcover. 230p., many b&w photos (we count 51) with well-chosen framing, reproduced well; Wightman's brief preface dwells on his two camermen. A very soundly bound hardcover in 10x6.5 inch black cloth boards with textured blue backstrip and corner-tips, spine-titled in undamaged gilt and t.e.g. (top edge gilded) also. Top margins shows mild pressure-dents, dusty headbands, one corner turned with cardstock visible, milder edgewear at other locations. General trivial external dimness from age and handling: clean endsheets, good hinges, square firm textblock, marked only by the author's inscription in ink to a "Dr. Frank Overton" datelined "Jany 3/29". Laid in opposite this holograph is a NYT newsclip that miraculously hasn't toned book's paperstock. In sum, a very good copy.
