This was an extremely popular series that featured many of the leading Evangelical preachers of the day. Young, Reverend Edward (c. 3 July 1683 - 5 April 1765 was an English poet) William Treves (1812-1867), an upholsterer, of a family of Dorset yeomen, and father of Sir Frederick Treves (15 February 1853 - 7 December 1923) a prominent British surgeon, and an expert in anatomy. Treves was renowned for his surgical treatment of appendicitis, and is credited with saving the life of King Edward VII in 1902. He is also widely known for his friendship with Joseph Merrick, dubbed the 'Elephant Man' for his severe deformities. [Rev. Nathaniel Thornbury LL.B.
