The top page ends has just a touch of light foxing. There is a p/o imprint on the free page. The jacket is also in very nice condition with just a touch of top edge wrinkle, and hardly any shelf wear. 294 pages. Nicely illustrated. Not a remainder. This war diary of former German naval officer Otto Giese begins with the dawning of WW II while Giese is a junior officer on board the ocean liner SS Columbus, and continues to his confinement in a British POW camp at the end of the war. Giese served on the U-405 and the U-181. His last cruise on the U-181 was to the Pacific, the cruise ended when the crew gave the U-Boat to the Japanese after Germany had surrendered. Filled with black and white photos most of which were taken by the author. Very good copy of the stated first printing in a very good dust jacket. 289 pages.
