Erstausgabe
Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. Beard, Wolcott LeClear. Sand and Cactus. New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1899. First edition. Octavo, 337 pp. Original tan pictorial cloth, front panel stamped in green, black, yellow and blue, spine stamped in green, top edge gilt, other edges untrimmed. Spine cloth a bit darkened and scuffed, a few page pairs near end roughly opened, else a very good copy. #1069. Rather uncommon. $35. Collection of ten stories set in the American Southwest and told in a naturalistic style. Bleiler (1978), p. 18. "The Wind Wraith" is an enigmatic and rather interesting weird tale. Like some of the stories by Mary Austin and Oliver La Farge, it's a good example of a somewhat rare hybrid of the weird and the Western.
