Brown of Harvard is a 1926 American silent drama film directed by Jack Conway, and starring William Haines, Jack Pickford and Mary Brian. Released by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, the film is based on the successful 1906 Broadway play Brown of Harvard by Rida Johnson Young. The film is best known of the three Brown of Harvard films. It was John Wayne's film debut.[2] Uncredited, Wayne played a Yale football player. The frontispiece has this same picture. One page has been removed (or at least appears to have been cut out) between the Contents and Illustrations page. Spine has some micro tears at top. Some scuffing at the bottom of the spine. Corners are sharp but the color on some is faded. Binding is solid. Gilt inscription from a Yaler, complete with Yale sticker from 1950. Other owner's name and date on FEP from 1909 in pencil. This book was a precursor to multiple plays of the same name. This is a 5th or later reprint in July 1908 as noted on the copyright page.
