With an afterword by Leonard Forster. The story is set in 1647. The 30 Years' War is drawing to a close and a group of poets from all parts of Germany gathered togethe for the purpose of strengthening the last remaining bond within a divided nation: its language and literature. The author sets this fictitious meeting in parallel with a real meeting of German poets and writers, known as Group 47 at the end of World War II. This author was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature. By the author of "The Tin Drum," "Dog Years," "Local Anaesthetic," "From the Diary of a Snail," "The Flounder," and "Cat and Mouse." 147p.
