Pierce, Village Voice Norman Maclean (1902-90), woodsman, scholar, teacher, and storyteller, grew up in the Western Rocky Mountains of Montana and worked for many years in logging camps and for the United States Forestry Service before beginning his academic career. He retired from the University of Chicago in 1973. Zustand: new. ALL UK PARCELS SENT TRACKED! ALL OVERSEAS PARCELS SENT AIRMAIL, TRACKED! (S/hand, Hardcover, 1989). (1976) 1989 new UCP edition. 8vo (147 x 223mm). Ppiv,161,i. Illustrated with wood engravings by Barry Moser. Blind-stamped fly motif in metallic-red ruled border to two-tone cream paper-covered boards, metallic-red t…itles to grey spine. Slight browning but very good in dust-wrapper. A nice edition of Norman Maclean's famous novel of Presbyterian angst and flyfishing, with nice wood engravings by Barry Moser, "the foremost wood-engraver in America." This edition was reprinted from Moser's 1989 Pennyroyal Press edition, though in a smaller format. The publisher later (about 1992 and possibly to coincide with, or as a result of, the release of the film) reprinted the original 1976 version, which included two other short stories, but retained the 1989 ISBN. Those copies carrying this ISBN, but in blue dust-wrappers, from are 1992 or later, and are actually quite different from this edition. . Barry Moser (illustrator).
