Written in 1996, this book foresaw the large-scale computer failure predicted for January 1, 2000, and warned against its potential impact on critical sectors, from personal finances and national defense to transportation and emergency services. The author, a research director for Gartner Group, describes the technical details of the problem, its potential consequences, and the actions organizations should take to mitigate the risks.
