In a time before digital technology, the author developed a method, including a study of musical notation, to measure the length of musical notes for the purpose of teaching singing through written music. This book will be of interest to singers of all styles and experience levels, as well as music scholars, historians, and anyone interested in the study of music notation and its application to vocal instruction. Through an engaging study of pitch and a close look at scales and modes, the author provides a comprehensive look at harmony in music. This book also contains historical information on singing education and musical concepts, as well as practical exercises that beautifully illustrate the author's method. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…
