The author's aim is to preserve the "moulding and formative influences of the past," which might otherwise be lost. The volume includes biographical sketches of key figures in the church's history, including its founder, Jesse Ketchum, and its early pastors, James Harris, Robert Burns, Alexander Topp, and the author himself. The author also provides a brief history of the Presbyterian Church in Canada, and discusses the church's role in the broader social and religious context of Toronto. The book offers a valuable glimpse into the history of one of Canada's oldest and most prominent Presbyterian churches, and provides insights into the development of the Presbyterian Church in Canada as a whole.
