An examination of the related archaeological and artistic evidence presents both a comprehensive historical and cultural analysis of relics of the Magi. It explores where the bodies of the Magi are believed to be buried, and discusses the development and dissemination of one of the most important pilgrimage routes in the Middle Ages. The author also explores the shifting importance of relics in the Middle Ages, using the Magi relics as a case study. The book takes a close look at the history and movement of the Magi's bodies over the course of the Middle Ages.
