This book reveals the secret correspondence between Austrian ambassadors and Empress Maria Theresa and her trusted advisor, Count Kaunitz, regarding diplomatic relations between Austria and France from 1750â"1752. Their goal was to persuade France to abandon Prussia and ally with Austria. The letters in this volume demonstrate the intimate connection between Austria's rulers and their advisors, and the importance of maintaining peace and preserving the balance of power in Europe.
