The author challenges conventional wisdom, arguing that the problem stems not from an unknown infection but rather from the unequal pressure of temperature and moisture acting upon the timber. With a blend of scientific principles and practical observations, the author demonstrates how timber can be preserved by maintaining a consistent and optimal temperature, preventing premature decay. This book offers a unique perspective, challenging established notions and providing valuable insights for anyone concerned with the preservation of timber structures, from historic buildings to modern ships.
