After his service in the Continental Army, Cobb returned home to become a prominent politician and jurist in the newly formed United States. He was elected to the Massachusetts legislature, served as Speaker of the House, and was a member of the United States Congress. Cobb's influence on American jurisprudence can be seen in his service as a judge on the Massachusetts Court of Common Pleas and as a major general in the state militia. The author analyzes Cobb's character and accomplishments against the backdrop of the profound shifts that America experienced during the Revolutionary War and its aftermath. This book offers insights into the challenges and triumphs that defined the era of the American Revolution through the lens of one of its key figures.
