The Academy was tasked with using the funds to award a prize for the most significant discovery on heat or light. However, the author argues the Academy has mismanaged the trust, leading to a re-evaluation of the experiments that were submitted for consideration. The author's research highlights the experiments conducted by Marcus Bull and the reasons why they were unfairly dismissed by the Academy's appointed committee. This book is a valuable resource for understanding the history of scientific patronage and the importance of proper scientific methodology.
