Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book examines the art of satire employed by 'troubadours' in ancient feudal societies to expose the injustices they were exposed to. The author argues that while satire was recognized as a form of free speech, the 'sirventes' was a highly structured poetic form more intent on causing harm than promoting debate. The book argues that the form, though initially employed to drive social change, became nothing more than a tool to perpetuate power and silence dissenters. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…
