Volume Two has moderate edgwear, and diagonal crease to front cover, otherwise clean throughout. Complete in two volumes, facsimile reprint of the 1847 edition, with all woodcut illustrations. Classic early vampire novel, which has influenced many other vampire stories since, from Bram Stoker's Dracula, to TV's Dark Shadows. The most famous of the popular penny dreadfuls issued by the press of Edward Lloyd in the 1840's. This classic Dover edition, which was sold out immediately upon publication, contains an introduction by E.F. Bleiler placing Varney in historical context, as well as a n ote on authorship, establishing a strong argument for Rymer as the author.
