The author's method was compared with the silver process commonly used at the time. Conducted in the Philadelphia mint, the trial was overseen by the institution's director with the approval of the treasury department. The author's method of refining was found to be economical in terms of materials and labor, requiring less labor and fewer costly materials than the silver refining method. The author's method was also found to produce a refined gold of excellent quality, producing well-formed ingots and coins. The author argues that their method would save the nation money and waste in the refining process and would enhance the nation's wealth and industry.
