A Pittsburgh native, author Bob Smizik was a sportswriter and columnist from 1969-2008 initially for "The Pittsburgh Press" and later for the "Pittsburgh Post-Gazette." Book was obtained from a Burke, Virginia estate and the exact circumstance of the signatures' acquisition is unknown but presumably they were collected at a Pirates reunion event. ISBN 0802711022.
