In 1908 the author, aged 45, walked into a travel agency in Chicago and asked for information on a return trip to the Arctic Ocean. (She and her neice Miss Brown, ended up making the journey.) That `certain cheekiness' comes through in many places in her trip log - e.g. where she describes eager young RNWMP officers near Edmonton. Section of very dramatic b/w photos at center. One map ahead of chapter one. LEARN about : tetes-des-femmes, moose-nose, storm-spirit, wetigo, sow-belly, lobsticks and artikki. Cond : Paper wrapper is scarlet red with white lettering. Cameo photo of Cameron appears on front cover. Pages slightly yellowed but volume (including spine) is tight, bright, clean and giftable - in all ASPECTS. Quote (p. 169) : " ._._. people of the Nunatalmutes ? The fact that the women prefer a vulgar-fraction of a man, an Eskimo equity in connubial bliss, to spearing walrus on their own account is a significant factor in the problem. And before we piously condemn either ._._._. ." Size: 8vo.
