In 1986 he founded Boym Partners Inc. in New York City. Contemporary designers in Russia have re-emerged from relative silence over several decades. They have established a voice that has been internationally acknowledged as a particularly Russian expression of the avant-garde. A group of men and women have diligently and often bravely worked, against all odds both creatively and economically, to the point where a new Russian design direction can be identified. With the recent revolutionary changes in the country, the atmosphere of openness and opportunity has led to further developments in areas previously seen either as subversive or as having use only as state-supported propaganda. Boym Partners is an American design firm, based in New York City. Boym Partners was founded in 1986 by Constantin Boym in New York City and is run by Constantin and Laurene Leon Boym, who joined the firm in 1995. The firm is a multi-disciplinary design studio. The firm designs products and environments for its clients, in addition to creating self-produced artistic works. The firm has designed tableware for companies including Authentics and Alessi, as well as watches for Swatch, lighting for Flos, and showrooms for Vitra. The company has also designed collectible objects. In 1997 it began producing a line called Souvenirs for the End of the Century, which marked iconic events from the 20th-century.[6] It also produced the Buildings of Disaster project-a series of architectural miniature souvenirs depicting buildings that were the site of a historical disaster. Objects created included the Unabomber's cabin, the Oklahoma City Federal Building, Chernobyl, and the Lorraine Motel. After 9-11, the company added more items to the line, including The Pentagon and the World Trade Center.
