Like his previous work, this volume centres on themes of time and space and on the precariousness of the human ego caught within them. As Roger Garfitt wrote in "Stand", 'he is a poet who brings his mind to bear on the evidence of his senses, and who is concerned, in particular, to inhabit the time dimension as sensitively as he inhabits the other three'.
