The author joined the US Immigration Service in 1911 at Tucson, later transferring to Douglas and in 1913 to El Paso where he was selected to head the Immigration Border Patrol when it was formed in 1924. In 1926 he was transferred to San Antonio to head the patrol in that district. Finally in 1930 he went to San Ysidro as Officer in Charge of the port of entry, a position he held until his retirement in 1953.
