A Ford finished 14'th in the 1923 race at Le Mans, so began a tradition represented in these 224 pages. READ more about : Khipion, Tertre Rouge, Pierre Levegh, Montaille, Olivier Gendebien, Shelby GT 350, earth bank, Esses, 1957 SCCA Formula III champion, Index of Performance, J car, pit straight, Lloyd `Lucky' Casner, and Luigi Chinetti. Text is amply assisted by b/w photos. The photo of the lobsters on page 132 (and others) is in colour. Cond : Boards are black with silver gilt lettering. End-papers are photos (blue & white) of the running start. Volume is bright, tight, clean, square, and crisp. D.J. is complete but with lots of wear - especially at hinge. None-the-less hard-to-find. No names nor marks. Collectible ! ! Quote (p. 93) : " I'd been lucky to get a `Carte Rouge', the hard to come by press credential that allowed me to join French TV and a couple of dozen photographers shooting the start from across the track.
