Lovely fresh looking green boards with crisp gilt titles and motif. On very close inspection there is a tiny knock at the bottom fore edge corner tip but you have to look hard to notice it. The dust jacket is and bright as new with just a tiny crumple at the head of the spine.

Geoffrey Beare sets out to restore the balance in this the first book devoted entirely to Heath Robinson's work as an illustrator and the first to assess the value of his magazine illustrations. Some of the artist's best work was for Strand Magazine, Nash's Pall Mall Magazine and Good Housekeeping, and his contribution and standing as an illustrative artist cannot properly be assessed without taking these drawings into account. A commentary on Heath Robinson's life and work plots his development as an illustrator, suggesting influences - and tracing recurring themes through the years. It also includes discussion of bibliographical points and background information of interest to collectors, drawing on previously unpublished correspondence between Heath Robinson and his publishers.
