George MacDonald (1824-1905) was a Scottish author, poet and Christian minister. He was a pioneering figure in the field of modern fantasy literature and mentor of fellow writer Lewis Carroll. "What's Mine's Mine", first published in 1886, is set in the Scottish Highlands and follows the trials and tribulations of various characters intertwined in a struggle over land and possessions. The book is bound in the original grey simulated leather boards with gold titling and a sword and crest on the spine, gold titling with a gold coat of arms and crest together with black designs on the front board, and a blind-stamped facsimile signature of the author on the rear board.
