Russell had first hired the blacklisted trio of Walter Bernstein, Arnold Manoff and Polonsky onto Danger, then carried them to You Are There, where remote historical subjects gave cover for the writers' own predicament: Galileo before the Inquisition, Savonarola, Milton under censorship, each anchored by Walter Cronkite reporting as though from the scene. Schultheiss contributes a substantial introduction, A Season of Fear, and appendices reconstructing the front attributions for both series from Russell's annotated script lists and from interviews with Polonsky, now held in the Abraham Polonsky Collection at California State University, Northridge.
