Klein follows Charpentiers Sans Frontieres, the "Carpenters Without Borders," on their first project in the United States. Since 2002 this group of skilled craftspeople has traveled the world to build using the old ways, restoring a medieval bridge at a castle in France and raising a hewn-truss roof on a blacksmith shop in Romania. An introduction by Francois Calame traces the origins of Charpentiers Sans Frontieres, and appendices cover team portraits and the rafter tail symbols carved into the frame, followed by further reading and an index. Mortise & Tenon published the book in 2020, edited by Michael Updegraff.…
