Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - 'The Indian Civil Service as a Profession' offers a glimpse into the opportunities and expectations surrounding service in the British Raj. This lecture, delivered by Vincent Arthur Smith at Trinity College, Dublin, in 1903, provides historical context to the recruitment and training of administrators who would govern British India. Smith's address offers insights into the nature of the work, the qualities sought in potential candidates, and the broader implications of the Indian Civil Service for both the British Empire and the Indian populace. It remains a valuable primary source for understanding the social, political, and administrative dynamics of the British colonial era. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.
