His research is in algebraic geometry with special emphasis on birational geometry, moduli spaces, K-stability, Fano varieties, and computational algebraic geometry. Martinez-Garcia has written one book, several research articles, and two software packages, and he has co-organized more than ten research meetings, including the annual international conference AGGITatE, as well as several research seminars.
