Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - The Cult of Incompetence is a book written by Emile Faguet in 1916. It is a critique of the French educational system and its failure to produce competent individuals. Faguet argues that the focus on theory and abstract concepts in education has led to a lack of practical skills and real-world knowledge among students. He also criticizes the emphasis on memorization and rote learning, which he believes stifles creativity and critical thinking. The book is divided into three parts. The first part examines the origins of the cult of incompetence and its impact on society. Faguet argues that the cult of incompetence is a product of the Enlightenment and the rise of rationalism, which placed too much emphasis on abstract reasoning and neglected practical knowledge. The second part of the book focuses on the educational system in France and its shortcomings. Faguet argues that the French system is too focused on theory and neglects practical skills. He also criticizes the system for its lack of flexibility and its failure to adapt to changing social and economic conditions. The final part of the book offers solutions to the problem of incompetence. Faguet suggests that education should be more practical and less theoretical. He also advocates for a greater emphasis on critical thinking and creativity. Finally, he argues that the educational system should be more flexible and adaptable to changing social and economic conditions.Overall, The Cult of Incompetence is a scathing critique of the French educational system and its failure to produce competent individuals. Faguet's analysis of the problem is insightful, and his proposed solutions are thought-provoking. The book remains relevant today, as many of the issues it raises continue to plague educational systems around the world. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
