The sermons cover a variety of topics including the causes of Ireland's poverty, the importance of charity, and the dangers of sleeping in church. The author argues that Ireland's poverty is in part due to the harsh treatment of its native people by their landlords, and he urges his readers to give generously to charity in order to help alleviate the suffering of the poor. He also warns against the dangers of sleeping in church, arguing that it is a sign of disrespect and that it can lead to people missing out on the important messages that are being preached. Ultimately, this book argues for the importance of compassion, charity, and spiritual engagement and provides valuable insights into the social and religious landscape of 18th-century Ireland.
