Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book explores the influence of Christian iconography and legend on the mythology of the ancient Norse, especially in the creation of the Baldr and Loki tales. The author argues that these stories were strongly influenced by Anglo-Saxon and Irish Christian tales that the Norse encountered through close contact in the British Isles during the Viking era. The author uses this lens to examine key features of the Baldr and Loki stories, from their characters' personalities and relationships to their roles within the broader Norse mythology. Throughout, the book highlights the interplay between pagan and Christian beliefs and provides valuable insights into the evolution of Norse mythology during a period of cultural exchange.
