These range from lists of canons of northern benefices, appointments, indulgences and papal provisions to accounts of degradations of clerks, letters of protection for canons and royal mandates for appointments. It introduces the reader to the secular jurisdiction of the archbishops of York in Ripon and the lives of clergy and parishioners in the thirteenth century. The book provides many examples of the types of challenges, both spiritual and temporal, faced by those of the medieval church. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
