The author presents a thorough analysis of the dependence of Matthew and Luke upon Mark, considering how these authors adapted and modified Mark's material while maintaining his narrative framework. The book also explores the non-Marcan material found in Matthew and Luke, particularly the mysterious "Q" source. Through meticulous examination of the Gospels' order, omissions, and changes, the author provides a comprehensive understanding of the literary construction of these foundational Christian texts, shedding light on the development of early Christian thought and the composition of the New Testament.
