This revealing historical narrative tells the story of the Franciscan Orderâs role as the launching pad for Christopher Columbus and his crew's audacious voyage to the New World. In the modest monastery of La Rábida, devout friars and scholars, particularly Father Juan Pà rez and Fray Antonio de Marchena, listened to Columbusâ impassioned plea to finance his expedition to find a westward route to India. The author argues that the discussions held in this secluded sanctuary ultimately led to the discovery of the Americas and that the monastery holds the key to understanding how such a groundbreaking event was set in motion.
