The book begins with a description of an 1889 Promenade Concert and Dedication Ceremony, followed by the main event of January 30, 1889, when the Chamber of Commerce took possession of the new building. The author includes speeches given by Cincinnati dignitaries, such as President Thomas Morrison and architect Henry C. Urner, as well as a celebratory hymn composed by Colonel Sidney D. Maxwell set to the tune of Old Hundred. The book provides a fascinating account of the event and includes letters of regret from many prominent individuals who were unable to attend.
