The author, likely writing in the 1830s, argues that the Constitution gives the federal government exclusive control over currency, banking, measures and weights. The text analyzes and critiques the prevailing view that state governments hold power over monetary and banking matters. The author argues that this view leads to financial irregularities, imbalances, and a dereliction of duty by the federal government. Ultimately, he claims this view undermines the constitutional system and the very fabric of the nation.
