It transports readers back to a time when the region was fiercely contested by colonial powers and the seas were teeming with buccaneers, pirates, and naval fleets. The author delves into the complexities of the British Admiraltyâs administration and reveals how gross mismanagement, corruption, and a disconnect between civil and military branches plagued the Royal Navy. Through meticulously researched accounts of naval expeditions, the book exposes the repeated failures and miscarriages that marked this era, often leaving the British colonies dangerously exposed and vulnerable to enemy attacks. This fascinating narrative sheds new light on the challenges and dynamics of naval warfare in the West Indies, unraveling the flawed decision-making and administrative hurdles that shaped the course of history.
