The author notes the influence of ancient Egyptian mythology and the Greek Orphic poems on later interpretations of the story as allegory and fable. The book examines objections to the literal interpretation of Genesis, arguing against the idea that humans could not have possessed the knowledge attributed to Adam and arguing that the story of creation could have been easily handed down from generation to generation. It also discusses the promise of the seed of the woman and the significance of Jesus Christ as the fulfillment of that promise. The book concludes by asserting the importance of the literal interpretation of the creation account for understanding the nature of mankind and the relationship between God and humanity.
