Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. An autobiography of a distinguished veteran and horseman, this book relates the author's adventurous life from the 1840s until the early 1900s. Born on a picturesque Kentucky plantation in 1841, the author grew up amidst the political and social tumult preceding the Civil War. He relates tales of his experiences as a young Confederate cavalry officer under the legendary General John H. Morgan and as a participant in covert operations in Canada during the war's waning years. The author also shares his experiences in the Spanish-American War and in state politics. Outside of the military arena, the author was instrumental in the development of the American Saddlebred horse, an achievement that is the highlight of his extensive service as president of the American Saddle Horse Breeders Association. The author's life story is an inspiring one, filled with courage, determination, and a deep love of country and community.
