This book chronicles the time George Thompson, a renowned British abolitionist, spent traveling and working in the US to challenge the nation's brutal slavery system. The author, a fellow abolitionist, narrates Thompson's journey, beginning with his first steps into the heart of the debate in New England. Although Thompson faced significant hostility, including constant threats of violence, he remained undeterred and became a lightning rod for the growing anti-slavery movement. The book offers an in-depth exploration of the arguments, events, and underlying themes surrounding the abolition of slavery in 1830s America, providing a fascinating glimpse into the struggle for human rights.
