Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book originated from an extract of a book by Johannes JORGENSEN published in 1915. The book is about the author's perspective on the beginning of the first World War. The excerpt speaks mainly about the author's reasons for writing the book and to defend his decision to cover the to…pic despite the intense backlash he received for choosing to discuss the war when he did. The author had received negative responses in the past when he had spoken out against the war prior to 1915. He ultimately chose to address the war again in writing because of the importance of speaking out against the things he deems as evil. JORGENSEN believed that the "German people were marching over the traces of Christ and renewing under our eyes the martyrdom of Good Friday." JORGENSEN goes on to develop the idea that he believes that Germany will be seen as fighting for good in this war and that the truth of that narrative will emerge over time. Ultimately, the author wants this book to be an historical record for the good that he sees in the German people, and their fight for a "just cause", defending themselves against perceived imminent threats of invasion. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
