Central to the volume are the âsimple loansâ â" or money advances â" meticulously recorded on clay tablets. Through them, the author provides an intimate view of Assyrian society, analysing thousands of these contracts to reveal a rich tapestry of personal, economic and legal transactions. This volume of transcribed and translated texts is the third in a series, and critically evaluates the significance of the loans and their wider implications for our understanding of ancient trade, economics, and finance, inviting readers to explore the complexities that lie within these simple records. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
