Paperback. Zustand: new. Paperback. CG Tenpenny is a poet, multi-instrumentalist, and singer-songwriter. Most importantly, he is a storyteller. He initially began writing poetry as a form of therapy: an attempt to cope with the mental injuries of trauma and illness. These early poems began the healing process. This collection features handpicked works from Tenpenny's nascent years as writer. These strange worlds are inextricably linked to a greater universe informing his storytelling. "CG Tenpenny is not rowing against the current - not at the moment, anyway. He seems to have made a conscious decision to pull in his oars, lie back in the boat, and let the waves take him wherever they like. Within this, his first collection of poetry, we have two versions of the past: a personal past haunted by loss and an idealized antiquity where the lines between myth and history are blurred. A past where Viking warriors roar against the darkness of Ragnaroek, Queen Mab offers blood pacts, Olympian tortures reign, and Tiamat whispers threats. Redemption and salvation are found there. There is a craving for peace through loss of self, a desire to melt into woods or be annihilated in a spinning dance outside of time. Most of us feel these things at times, which is why the myths exist in the first place. Like many of us, Tenpenny feels displaced in a mechanical, post-industrial world, and seems to long for a past that he knows never existed."-Laurie Zolkosky This item is printed on demand.
