Danny Kalb (bornSeptember 9, 1942) is a blues guitarist and was one of the originalmembers of the 1960's group, Blues Project. Born in Mount Vernon, NewYork, he was a protege of Dave Van Ronk, and became a solo performer, aswell as a session player with such folk singers as Judy Collins, PhilOchs, Pete Seeger and Bob Dylan. Kalb and Sam Charters formed The NewStrangers. He joined Van Ronk's Ragtime Jug Stompers. Inspired byAfrican American backwoods bluesmen like like Son House, Skip James andMississippi John Hurt, he experimented with acoustic and electronicmusic. In 1965 Kalb joined with Steve Katz and, Andy Kulberg, RoyBlumenfeld and Tommy Flanders to form The Blues Project.
